Predators beat Capitals 3-1
Nashville didn’t have a huge attendance tonight. The official number is 14,863. A lot of Predators fans missed another great game between these two. Most of the time when these two teams play each other, it is close and an intense game. When these two play, it is the best team from the East to play the Predators.
The headline story of the night was Joel Ward coming back to Smashville. Ward received a nice ovation when they called his name for starting line-ups. Usually they yell after a players name, “Sucks!” but he got the opposite. That is rare, they even said for former coach, Wayne Gretzky. The Predators gave him a tribute on the jumbo-tron. Joel made one notable play when he went around Shea Weber and put a nice shot on Rinne. Joel Ward wasn’t the only former Predator tonight. Starting goalie, Tomas Vokoun.

Nashville played well in the 1st, slow in the 2nd, and played great in the 3rd period. Led by Pekka Rinne with his 39 saves tonight. Great game by him. The PK continues to do well for the Predators. 3-3 on killing penalties. The PK killed off a 5-on-3 even when Suter and Weber were in the box together. The Power Play still needs some work, but it has never been great in Nashville. The Predators put on a lot of shots, 31. That is how you win. The standing ovation by the fans, I think sparked the team. Those always work and keep on doing them Smashville!
Tomas Vokoun had a great game with 28 shots. He is getting older in the league and this is the team where he can get his 1st Stanley Cup. Talent was everywhere tonight and Mike Green didn’t even play. Alex Ovechkin, Nick Backstrom, and Alex Semin. Troy Brouwer had a good night with 1 goal. Of course it had to be him, former Blackhawk. I noticed Ovechkin switched from CCM to Bauer. He might want to go back to CCM, his scoring has been down.
