Time to Step Up!

I am feeling better, but might not be able to catch most of the Canucks game.

The Nashville Predators have lost 3 in a row. Given, 1 game was in OT, but come on Preds! Last night, they choked in the 3rd period by giving up 3 goals after leading 1-0 going into the game. I woke up to seeing this on ESPN. Last night, we started very slow. Until, a flewky goal by Sergei Kostitsyn went in. Do you want to know why it went it? SK shot the puck at the net and didn’t pass it. It wasn’t fancy. Pekka Rinne is keeping this team in the game. You can’t expect him to stand on his head for 60 minutes every game. They are relying on him too much! The offense needs to pick it up. 12 shots on net? And against a weak defensive team like the Oilers? Come on Preds!

Smashville is now seeing the reality of having the youngest team in the NHL. Barry Trotz has 2 days to work with the team until Thursday to get back to the basics of skating hard and playing some defense.

Jerrod Smithson had some comments saying everyone needs to step up, in fact, here it is: ”Just embarrassing. We just got out-worked. It was right from the drop of the puck. If it wasn’t for Peks it could have been 5-1. It seems like I’ve been saying that every time now, but it’s the honest truth, we rely on this guy way too much. We don’t work, we don’t skate, we don’t forecheck, we have a hardworking team that doesn’t work hard and I don’t know, it’s beyond frustrating right now. I’ve never been a part of something like this. It’s gotta change right now, or we’re going to be on the outside looking in – December we’ll be out of this, we have to change it right now.”   Smithson has been working hard on the PK and have been blocking hard shots. He is the oldest on the team, so he needs to address it.

Next game, Canucks vs Preds at 9 PM on FS-TN. I will preview the game, not summarize it.
